The Terra Turtles project came about due to our team’s love for NFTs and investments. The entire mechanics and utility were the very first points that we settled on. When choosing the art, we new we wanted to go with pixel art as it embodied the simple aesthetics that we wanted and that would be contrasted with our complex plans.

We are all very passionate about the environment, and in our brainstorming, saw that Turtles, perhaps one of the most peaceful and loveable creatures on Earth, face terrible threats. Just from WWF:

Getting accidentally caught in fishing gear is probably the biggest threat to marine turtles. It’s also estimated that more than 50% of marine turtles have ingested plastic or other human rubbish — often mistaking it for food e.g. jellyfish. Plastic washed up on beaches can also limit space for nesting and block tiny hatchlings’ paths to the ocean.

Turtle habitats are being destroyed and put under threat. For example, 50% of the world’s coral reefs have been lost and the rest could disappear completely by 2050 if climate change remains unchecked.

One of our priority missions is to ensure that we contribute to marine-wildlife preservation, primarily but not limited to Turtles, and to the improvement of the global environment.

We set out to do this from the very beginning before we even launched, by introducing a new Whitelisting method: Donate a minimum of $5 USD or Crypto equivalent to Team Seas, and you will automatically get WL. This proved to be a win-win for the Terra Turtles Team, Team Seas, and the donator.

Removing 30,000,000 Pounds of Trash Will Actually Have This Impact #TeamSeas — YouTube

Team Seas is a charity that promises to remove one pound of trash in the ocean for every dollar donated. Check out that video above. And with the efforts of Terra Turtles, every day more trash is being removed.

Sad OG Turtle :(

During our launch and secondary sales we are working with Angel Protocol, a Terra protocol that helps charities benefit from Crypto and other decentralised finance products. We will be working closely with them to identify charities that can benefit from receiving a percentage of our sales.

Post-Launch alongside a set percentage being donated to charity through Angel protocol and chosen by Terra Turtle holders, we will also be arranging a beach-clean up as a more hands-on approach. We will engage our community, going to countries where our holders are, and cleaning up their shores.

There is a lot that we can all do to aid the world in its environmental recovery, and build a better home not only for the Turtles that this project is based on, but for all life.
